The North & East Neighborhood in Richmond, CA has a population of approximately 5,000 homes. It is primarily residential, bounded on three sides (San Pablo Avenue, Macdonald Avenue and 23rd Street) by small businesses and bordered on the fourth side by the City of San Pablo.

An old established neighborhood, with a relatively low crime rate (Click here for more crime information), the North & East is culturally very diverse. Caucasian and African American families are now mixed with Latinos, Asian Pacific Islanders and others. Some residents live in homes they built here 50 years ago; others are young families.

There are three elementary schools and one high school in the neighborhood. The neighborhood also has a number of churches, businesses and non-profit organizations, some of which have participated in Council activities over the years. The Richmond Public Library, police department and city hall are in the North & East neighborhood.
